Touching the void – Chapter 7 (Shadows in the ice) Summary

The chapter starts with Joe hanging from the rope expecting to drop down at any point along with Simon, Suddenly he falls down and after hitting the ground slips through a crevasse where he falls again until he smacks himself into a rock ledge. He realises he survived the drop and beliefs Simon is above him however he pulls on the rope and realises that it has been cut. He is now alone with no one to help him, he contemplates the options but he can not go up and does not want to go down, He later realises he has no choice and has to try to get down in any way possible.
