The chapter starts off with Simon and Joe waking up from their tent, Simon is becoming much more optimistic about the journey up the mountain but joe still has his doubts however once they both start climbing they both start enjoying themselves.
Later on though their luck turns the other way as the mountain starts having an avalanche and rocks begin to start hitting them as they climb up the mountain from a nearby ledge. It starts becoming dark and Joe and Simon start worrying about finding a place to camp, out of nowhere Simon and Joe find a somewhere to camp. The chapter ends with Joe talking about an earlier camping trip where they he nearly had a near death experience by nearly falling of a ledge which is reminiscent to what just happened in the chapter.
